It’s true, summer is almost over. So I have an idea: let’s forget about all the things we have to do to get ready for the school year and finish out the summer in style with a great Labor Day weekend.

Here are three ideas that can help.

One of the things that inspires me to find creative and fun ways to keep kids safe every day is knowing that there’s a whole world of people working together to do the exact same thing. Once you see these videos created by our fabulous partners in Brazil, you’ll know what I mean.

A colleague of mine was all set to write this Mother’s Day blog. She had her first child three months ago - a beautiful healthy baby boy - and was excited to share her thoughts on her first Mother’s Day. But then the reality of being a brand new mom set in - sleep deprived, new routines, all the standard questions like “When do they start sleeping through the night?"

Pop quiz. Who do you think are the best advocates for child safety issues?   a) Pediatricians; b) Elected Officials; c) Teachers; d) Parents?  The answer is: e - none of the above.

That’s right. While many of these groups work hard for children, peer-for-peer advocacy, or kids lobbying on behalf of kids, can actually have the biggest impact of all.

As a certified child passenger technician and instructor, working in injury prevention, I frequently hear this question. Not surprising, given tight household budgets and the constantly increasing costs of raising children.

First, let’s look at the things that rule out using secondhand seats, then we can better determine when it’s okay.
