UPDATE TO RE-CERTIFICATION AND INSTRUCTOR CANDIDACY AVAILABILITY
 
The pages needed to submit your re-certification request online will be available starting Monday, March 22. Online instructor candidacy registration will also be available starting March 22. We apologize for any inconvenience caused by this schedule change. SAFE KIDS must ensure that these new sections of the online system are fully functional before opening them to heavy traffic. Thank you for your patience.

CONNECT WITH CPS TODAY  

Please log on to www.cpsboard.org soon! As part of our new online system for the National Standardized Child Passenger Safety Training Program, we’ve developed an individual online profile for you. We strongly encourage you to view it and update your contact information so that the information you’re interested in will reach you.

The best way to ensure you get the information you need is to have your own e-mail address (one that is not shared with others or your entire organization). Among other places, you can get an e-mail address for free today at www.hotmail.com (click on “new account signup”) or www.yahoo.com  (click on “mail”). You should also update your home and work address information, so mailed items will reach you.

WHAT’S THE PASSWORD?  

To use the new system, you will need your User ID and password, which were mailed the first week of March to the primary address we have for you. If you have not yet received a letter, please call Customer Service at 877-366-8154 or e-mail cps.certification@safekids.org. Please do not reply to this e-mail.

HERE’S HOW TO LOG ON  

  1. Go to www.cpsboard.org
  2. Click on “Class Registration and CPS Certification”
  3. The SAFE KIDS CPS Certification Web site is full of information about policies and procedures for the program. You can explore the links at the bottom of the welcome page, or you can go directly to logging on by clicking “To enter the certification system, click here” at the top of the screen.
  4. Choose your category (as a certified or formerly certified individual, your category will be Technician or Instructor)
  5. Enter your User ID and password, and click “Enter.” Remember that both are case-sensitive. If your login doesn’t seem to be working, try another character that looks similar for instance, switching capital “I” with lowercase “L” or the number “1.”

If you continue to experience problems logging in, call Customer Service at 877-366-8154.

WHAT YOU CAN DO  

Once you’ve logged in, you can update your home and business addresses, your address preference, your telephone number(s), your e-mail address and demographic information. To change your name, you must call Customer Service at 877-366-8154.  Please note that it may take up to 30 days for your changes to take effect.

PAPERWORK STATUS  

SAFE KIDS has now received a large amount of past-due re-certification paperwork fowarded by AAA, as well as new technician applications from winter classes. We are performing the necessary manual processing of paperwork from the former system, and we will begin mailing responses in early April.

Please note that we accepted old re-certification paperwork through February 29, but that re-certifications must now use the new online system (available after March 22). You will need your User ID password to log in and access that process. Step-by-step guidelines will be sent in next week’s CPS Express!
