RE-CERTIFICATION AND INSTRUCTOR CANDIDACY ONLINE AVAILABILITY

As previously noted, the Web pages needed to submit your re-certification request or your instructor candidacy registration will be available starting Monday, March 22. Thank you again for your patience. Below is information that will be useful to you as new sections of the online system become functional.

HERE’S HOW TO RE-CERTIFY

Go to www.cpsboard.org and jump to the SAFE KIDS online CPS certification page.  If you haven’t already updated your profile, that should be your first step. Click on “Update Profile” and make sure all information is up to date.

Your seat check activity must be entered and verified before you can continue the re-certification process. To enter your seat checks, click “Log Seat Check Activity.” Enter or look up the name or certification number of the Instructor who signed off on each item, then the seat type and date completed. SAFE KIDS will contact the Instructor(s) for verification.  Then choose "Apply for Re-certification" on the left-hand side of the page and log in.

Once you have received instructor approval of all five required seat checks, you will be able to access the registration form. If you are paying by check, money order or purchase order, you must print the registration form from the link at the bottom of the page and mail it with payment to the address on the form.  Please note that paper registrations will not be accepted for technicians and instructors with incomplete or unverified seat checks.  They will be returned and must be resubmitted after the seat check verification is complete.

There are more policies regarding group re-certification registration and instructor re-certification on our Web site. Click here to read them.

If you are paying by credit card, you will move through three screens. On the first screen, you will verify all of your personal information. On the second screen, you will enter your credit card information. The final screen is a confirmation screen, and that will be followed up with e-mailed instructions for taking the exam.

INSTRUCTORS: YOU’VE GOT MAIL

Once the re-certification section of the online system is functional, instructors will receive e-mails asking them to approve or deny seat check activity. You do this by logging on to the system in the “Instructor” category and choosing “Approve Seat Check Activity.” You will see a list of names, seat types and dates completed. All you need to do is click a button under “approved” or “denied” for each.

You will probably receive a large volume of re-certification-related e-mail for the first few weeks after the online system goes live. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we all work through the backlog of past-due re-certification paperwork together.

As always, please contact Customer Service at 877-366-8154 with questions or problems that are not addressed on the SAFE KIDS CPS Certification Web site.
