RE:     Renewal course and system enhancements

I know you have been eagerly awaiting the new Certification Renewal Course and the certification management team worked very hard to meet the April 1 goal.   Once we realized that the April 1 goal could not be achieved with other system enhancements, we had to make a decision as to how to move forward.

SAFE KIDS has made the commitment to develop a strong nationwide certification program and we are investing significant resources to provide you the features you’ve requested.  In reviewing the feedback from last year, we have decided to delay the Renewal Course several months to allow for much needed system-wide improvements. We are moving forward with a new system management partner.  Our new partnership will enable us to offer many of the requested online features.

The Renewal Course will be available no later than August 1, 2005.   We will offer an abbreviated course registration time frame (from 8 to 4 weeks) for the month of August to help accommodate any plans you may have made.

In exchange for the delay, the following system enhancements will be provided to you:

Individual Profiles (August 1)

  • Expanded to include payment, registration, testing, teaching
(for instructors) and customer service status and history
  • Ability to modify username and password
  • Ability to retrieve username and password online without having to contact customer service

Online Registration (no later than November 1)

  • Payment options will be expanded to include purchase orders and checks
  • Organizations/agencies will be able to apply for credit using an e-voucher system
  • Organization/agency contacts will have real-time access to view balance and payment history, organization affiliation, etc.
  • Users will have the ability to reschedule, substitute or cancel their course registration online (August 1)
Course Management (August 1)

  • Listing of all courses both public and controlled
  • Expanded course management allowing controlled courses and courses with local fees to be handled more intuitively (November 1)
  • Online course finalization process improved and more intuitive
  • Ability to edit or cancel course information online, not having to contact customer service
  • Course rosters, materials shipping status, etc. available online for course administrators and lead instructors

Thank you for your cooperation, understanding, and your support in keeping children safe.
