Important Note for Instructors

By now, you have probably received a revision packet in the mail for your instructor manual.  Please take a minute to read this memo from NHTSA before replacing pages and disgarding the 'old' ones.

Re-certification

For many of you, re-certification is just around the corner.  To re-certify, you need to complete the required seat checks. No need to wait … start today!

All certified individuals need to have their required practical skills items verified by one or more certified instructors for re-certification.  Over the two-year certification period, whenever technicians and instructors complete one or more of the required installations, they should log into their online certification profile and go to 'Log Seat Check Activity' to indicate which instructor verified the installation(s).  The instructor will be automatically notified and can then approve the installation(s) online.  This process must be completed before the re-certification application and examination are available.

Step-by-step instructions for logging and verifying seat check activity can be found here.

For more information, please review the re-certification section
in our policies and procedures manual.

CPS Resources

Every technician or technician-instructor occasionally encounters tough questions about an installation, a restraint or a user. We would like to suggest the following potential sources of child passenger safety-related information. You may wish to print and save this list for future reference.
