These states had 63 percent, 60 percent and 59 percent of eligible individuals complete the re-certification process, respectively. Only those who needed to re-certify between January 1, and June 30, 2005, were included.

Re-Certification
Don’t Risk Your Certification — You may re-certify up to four months before your current certification expiration date.
-
Seat checks may be logged at any time during your certification cycle and must be approved before you can register for re-certification. -
You must complete registration no later than your current certification expiration date. -
Once your re-certification registration is processed, you will have 30 days to complete the online exam. The test does not have to be completed by your certification expiration date.
If your test is never started, inadvertently submitted or incomplete when the term expires, it will be graded and you won’t get your money refunded.
System Says You Are Not Eligible for a Renewal Course? It is likely you likely logged in as a new user. If you did, your status will show as CONTACT rather than as EXPIRED in your online profile (see right column).
If you have ever held national CPS certification, you already have an assigned username and password. If you log in as a new user instead, the system will show no record of your certification history.
If you do not know your username or password, and you have the same email address you did when you were originally certified, try clicking on "Forgot Your Password?" at the log in screen. You may also contact CPS customer service at cps.certification@safekids.org or toll-free at 877-366-8154.

New Test Answer Key
A new test answer key is being provided with your course information. Please let us know which type you prefer.
While Safe Kids does not recommend the practice of on-site scoring for written exams, it recognizes this request from the field. To this end, included with the course materials is an answer key for instructors who wish to score on site. Please be aware and share with the students that these are UNOFFICIAL exam scores. Each student will be notified of his or her official score by Safe Kids.
Once answer sheets are turned in after the exam, they are not to be returned to any student for any reason.
While some instructors may choose to release unofficial scores for the written exam at the end of the class, the final, official grading of all written examinations is performed by Safe Kids.

What is the difference between a course reservation and a course registration?
A course reservation is a seat in the course that is held for you for a limited period of time. A course reservation does not guarantee that seat, as you must complete the registration process by submitting payment prior to the start of the course.
Course registration means that Safe Kids has received and processed your registration and payment. You have a guaranteed spot in the course.
It is not possible to reserve a seat for public courses. However, for controlled courses, you can only register after receiving approval from the lead instructor. Therefore, for a controlled course, the first step is to request a reservation. If you are approved, that reservation holds your seat for 10 days or until the first day of the course, whichever comes first. By that time, you must complete the registration process by submitting payment. If you do not complete registration within 10 days of approval, your reservation will time out. If this happens, you need to speak to the lead instructor about re-approval.
