As Safe Kids' Director of Public Policy, I follow the legislative action going on around carbon monoxide poisoning. This is a very active issue, both on the federal and state level.

At the state level, Safe Kids is supporting legislation ( H.B. 2.) introduced by Maryland House Delegate Cheryl D. Glenn (D-Balt) which would require Carbon Monoxide detectors in school buildings.  Kids spend at least 1/3 of their time in school most weeks and the danger of CO should—must--be detected. Carbon monoxide detectors are already required in homes, lodging and other buildings.

If you are from Maryland, please email your legislator and urge him/her to support this bill.

I think there should be carbon monoxide detectors in all schools.
