SKBU, which began in 1997 with a focus on child seat inspections and training for GM dealers, has developed in to a multifaceted program dealing with the many elements of protecting children in and around vehicles. Program activities include Never Leave Your Child Alone, Spot the Tot, permanent child seat inspection stations at more than 500 locations, 137 mobile child seat inspection vans to support community events and grants to assist state organizations in advocating for passage of upgraded child passenger safety laws. "We are grateful to the many dedicated volunteers and staff around the country who have brought us to this point," said Mitch Stoller, President and Chief Executive Officer, Safe Kids Worldwide. “Examining 1.25 million seats represents more than 300 work-years of volunteer time devoted to making kids safer on the road.” "We also recognize and deeply appreciate the steadfast support of the GM Foundation, which has helped us save lives and prevent injuries," Stoller added.
