Research and Statistics
Safe Kids research helps adults understand the dangers kids face. It explores how and why injuries happen. With this information, we can develop tips and programs that address serious injury risks to children.
Sometimes Safe Kids researchers observe events to learn new facts or test theories. Other times they collect and analyze information about how well an injury prevention method works. But the goal of Safe Kids research is always discovering new ways for children to live and grow in a safe world.
Safe Kids research has established:
- The rates and types of distracted driving in school zones.
- Child safety seat checks teach parents how to install car seats and booster seats correctly.
- Distributing safety information makes it more likely families will change their behavior.
- Children with parents whose actions reinforce their words are more likely to practice safe behaviors.
