There are lots of opportunities for big kids to play or watch TV around the house. This is also the age when resourceful kids learn to pull out drawers and climb to the top of a dresser, which can be dangerous. With these simple precautions, you can keep your big kids safe from TV and furniture tip-overs.
Top Safety Tips to Avoid TV and Furniture Tip-Overs
- Mount flat-screen TVs to the wall. Follow the manufacturer’s instructions to ensure that you have a secure fit.
- If you have a heavier, box-style cathode ray tube (CRT) TV, place it on a low, stable piece of furniture that can hold the TV’s size and weight.
- Use anti-tip brackets, braces or wall straps to secure furniture to the wall.
