1. Cross the street in front of the bus, make eye contact with the bus driver and cross only when the driver indicates it’s safe. It seems like a little thing, but it’s important.
2. Remind kids to look left, right and left again before crossing the street. And don’t walk behind the bus. 
3. Be careful of straps or drawstrings that could get caught in the door.
