Kris Hixson

Director of Video Communications

Kris became Safe Kids' Director of Video Communications in 2012. From 2010-2012, Kris worked at Malaria No More heading up the video production department. He began making short documentaries for which he travelled to Africa; he also produced PSAs and even invented an iPad app for Malaria No More helping to fight the devastating disease. 

Kris began making films at age 8, and hasn’t stopped since. He is a graduate of UNC-Chapel Hill-Radio, TV, Motion Pictures, where his student film, “The Gift,” garnered industry attention at film festivals, and led to opportunities to work in Hollywood following college. 

In LA, Kris worked on national commercial spots for McDonalds, Home Depot and Redken, with leading commercial production companies. During this time, Kris enrolled in the 2 year director’s program at the prestigious school, Playhouse West, and studied directing under Robert Carnegie and Jeff Goldblum. 

In the fall of 1999, Kris founded the production company I-40 Films. Since that time, he has produced/directed over 50 TV spots, including regional campaigns for Ford Motor Company, and 21 national PSAs. He has also produced/directed a music video for recording artists: Tori Amos, Jars of Clay and Jason Michael Carroll. Other clients include IBM, Con Agra Foods, Glen Gery Brick and the NHL. His work with the NHL’s Carolina Hurricanes garnered national attention on ESPN in a behind-the-scenes featurette on I-40 Films. 

Kris has won numerous national advertising awards including, ADDYs and Tellys.
