Wes BenderWest Coast Operations Manager, Safe Kids Buckle Up
Wes Bender serves as the liaison between local Safe Kids coalitions in the western region, the national office, and program sponsor General Motors. He helps to facilitate partnerships with GM dealerships and Safe Kids coalitions, and provides support to local child passenger safety efforts. Wes is also a representative of the Safe Kids field team, serving as the primary point of contact for Safe Kids coalitions in six of the western states. In addition, Wes coordinates the Safe Kids Buckle Up presence and participation at national conferences and sponsor-related events. He maintains certification as a CPS technician and instructor, and assists local Safe Kids coalitions with certification training. Based in Los Angeles, Calif., Wes joined Safe Kids Worldwide to manage the Buckle Up van program and the child safety seat inspection station program of Safe Kids Buckle Up. He has more than 20 years of emergency services and injury prevention experience, having spent more than 15 years as faculty teaching at the University of Maryland before coming to Safe Kids. As a certified child passenger technician and instructor, working in injury prevention, I frequently hear this question. Not surprising, given tight household budgets and the constantly increasing costs of raising children.
