The School
School Name: Poolcharoenwittayakhom School
City: Bang Phli, Samutprakarn
Number of Students: 2,000

The Issue
Approximately 2,000 vehicles pass Poolcharoenwittayakhom School each day. In contrast to other more developed cities in Thailand, the roads around Poolcharoenwittayakhom do not have signs indicating there is a school nearby. There is no sidewalk for 20 meters of the only footpath that leads to the school entrance, forcing students to walk alongside the road on their way to school. Because students also share the narrow footpath with factory workers who are on their way to work, students often end up walking in the road.

The project
Safe Kids Thailand will soon collect information to assess the current child pedestrian safety situation around the school.
