Safe Kids Thailand Celebrates Safe Kids Week

February 17, 2012

On January 10, 100 students from Wat Phraya Yang School together with FedEx Express Thailand, representatives from the Phyathai Police Station and the Board of Community Empowerment for Injury and Disaster Prevention, along with parents, community leaders, volunteers and media, celebrated “Thailand Safe Kids Week” in Bangkok.

With the 2012 theme, “We Need your Hand to Keep Kids Safe from Road Injury,” Safe Kids Thailand aimed to increase public awareness of child pedestrian and helmet safety.

The highlight of the Week was an event during which participants walked from the Ratchathewi District Office to the Victory Monument, an area with heavy traffic flow, to spread awareness about the importance of pedestrian safety. Children also paraded around the city during the week, holding placards, banners and other safety materials with safety messages.

Reflective gear and bags and safety booklets were also distributed to adults and children to promote safer behaviors.
