Halloween is known as a scary holiday, but sometimes not for the right reason. On average, children are more than twice as likely to be hit by a vehicle and killed on Halloween than on any other day of the year.
In preparation for Halloween, Safe Kids coalitions across the country team up with Walk This Way program sponsor FedEx to provide kids with reflective materials to promote visibility, including reflective trick-or-treat bags and zipper tags that can be attached to costumes. Coalitions also provide important safety information such as tip sheets for children, parents and drivers.
Exciting and educational events are held at schools, community locations and zoos across the country.
