Helmets Are a Must
- Every skater should wear a helmet. Wrist guards, knee pads and elbow pads are a good idea for everyone, but especially for beginners.
Hundreds of families and kids of all ages swept through the fabulous Highline Stages in New York City on May 18 for the first national Safe Kids Day family event.
Thanks to our supporters, including presenting sponsor Children's Tylenol, Safe Kids Day raised more than $635,000 to protect kids from preventable injuries, the No. 1 killer of kids in the United States.
Global Road Safety Week was from May 4-10, 2015. Safe Kids Worldwide took part in the UN #SaveKidsLives campaign, which included delivering the Child Declaration on Road Safety to policy makers. We enlisted the help of our local coalitions to get signatures for the Declaration. One coalition went above and beyond, adding an amazing 4,000 signatures to the Child Declaration. Kim Karpovich of Safe Kids Union County, NC won our domestic contest for the most signatures. It is such an amazing accomplishment, and we’re so proud of the work Kim and her team has done.
Safe Kids is committed to keeping you informed about recalls of products that can put kids at risk. This recall report includes bunk beds that can collapse as well as drawer chests and shelving units posing tip-over and entrapment hazards. The Safe Kids’ recall center is a unique place where parents and caregivers can go to stay up-to-date on recalls of all child-related products.

Anyone with little loved ones in our lives has faced the task of finding that perfect gift. I used to feel sorry for those people running around the toy store and comparing one train set to another. Now that I have two nephews and a niece, all under age 6, I’m one of those people too. It’s become an interesting challenge to find the toy that will appeal to each one individually and that will also make each one feel special when they open it.
