Keeping Children with Special Needs Safe in the Home

Safe Kids and the MetLife Foundation have partnered to bring you a series of safety videos highlighting how you can take precautions in the home to help prevent injuries to children with physical, developmental or cognitive disabilities.

The series profiles three families, all of whom have a child with a different special need.

The focus of the videos includes fire and burn prevention, drowning, choking and falls prevention. It will help viewers learn safety guidelines and step-by-step instructions geared towards making safety improvements in the home.

The videos were produced with a grant from the MetLife Foundation.

	Meet the Davis family.  Lucy has two children, 5-year-old Billy, who is hearing impared, and 7-year-old Cindy, who is blind. Learn how Lucy is taking steps to keep each of her children safe.
	Meet the Gomez family and 10-year-old Luis, who uses a wheel chair. Learn how his parents work together to ensure his safety.
	Meet the Jones family and Harold, a teenager who has a cognitive disorder. Learn how his parents have taken special steps to keep him safer in the home.
