CPSC Recalls More Than Two Million Cribs

On June 24, the Consumer Product Safety Commission announced the recall of more than two million cribs

For more information, read the CPSC press release and watch a Q&A on the agency’s blog. A complete list of crib recalls can be found on the CPSC crib information center website

Safe Kids urges parents to consult the complete list of crib recalls to ensure their child’s crib is safe. Safe Kids is particularly concerned about crib recalls, as cribs are used by custom, practice and design to contain children for long periods of unsupervised time. To us, these products have a special place and purpose in a child’s life.

Parents are also encouraged to sign up for our monthly email to learn about the latest juvenile product recalls.

The CPSC issued a warning last month alerting parents and caregivers that there can be deadly hazards associated with drop-side cribs. The agency is aware of 32 infant and toddler suffocation and strangulation deaths and hundreds of incidents that were caused by or related to drop-side detachments in cribs made by various manufacturers since 2000. Nine million drop-side cribs have been recalled over the past five years.
