It happened on October 18, 2008 – a date that I will remember for the rest of my life.
My in-laws were visiting, and we were all heading out to a family breakfast. As we walked to the car, Maya ran next door to say “Hi” to our neighbor.

House Bill Prioritizes Traffic Safety, Emphasizes Child Passenger Safety,
Requires Technology to Prevent Kids from Dying in Hot Cars
Washington, D.C. – Safe Kids Worldwide applauds the U.S. House of Representatives for passage of the Moving Forward Act, H.R.2, legislation that prioritizes traffic safety programs and vehicle safety initiatives which, if enacted, will make kids safer in and around cars.
Even as families try to stay home as much as possible during the coronavirus pandemic, there are times when a trip in the car with the kids is essential. To support parents and caregivers during COVID-19, Safe Kids Worldwide has teamed up with the Juvenile Products Manufacturers Association to provide parents and caregivers with a suite of online and virtual resources to properly use and install car seats and to keep kids safe in and around cars.
More than 500 safety professionals from 25 countries and nearly every U.S. state gathered at the 2015 Safe Kids Worldwide Childhood Injury Prevention Convention (PREVCON) on July 29 - August 1 to explore innovative new ideas and strategies to protect children from preventable injuries.
