Making the case for wall-mounted TVs

I was 30 when I gave myself a concussion by pulling a TV onto my head. I’d be willing to bet that this doesn’t happen to many adults (unless they are generally clumsy humans, like me).

But did you know that in the past 10 years, a child has visited the emergency room every 45 minutes because of a TV tipping over? And unfortunately, these preventable injuries can sometimes be fatal.

Mom Unedited: Big Brother is Watching

In just a few weeks, my family will welcome a little girl into our lives. We're all excited about this, but no one is more excited than our 4-year-old son, Winston. His excitement has been one of the purest joys of the entire pregnancy. His excitement has been one of the purest joys of the entire pregnancy. He talks about "his baby" every day – where she will sleep, what she will eat, and how they will play together.

holiday shopping tips

As the weather gets chilly and holiday anticipation begins to grow, it’s time to start making lists – lists for Thanksgiving dinner, lists for Santa, lists for winter-weather preparation, and, of course, lists for holiday shopping.

Brandon Bass

Just because I’m fearless on the court doesn’t mean that I’m fearless in my everyday life. In fact, even something fun and seemingly harmless like a swimming pool can scare me. World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims blog

Around the world, close to 3,400 people, including more than 500 children, die on and around roads each day and many more are injured or disabled. In the spirit of World Day of Remembrance, we are asking everyone to remember Christina, a 15-year-old high school sophomore, who was struck and killed by a car on October 31, 2012. Christina’s mom, Gwen Ward, is working hard to make sure we honor Christina’s memory by encouraging everyone to put their devices down and pay attention when they cross the street.

Preventable injuries are the number one killer of kids in the United States, but they’re also a major problem around the world. That’s why it so important to get the word out. We’re honored that our partners in Japan, Canada and New Zealand are adapting one of our favorite videos to raise awareness and educate parents so all kids can grow up to become whatever they can imagine.

Doubtful Dad Dog Park

I love the dog park.

I love it because Halea, my dog (a very rare breed of mutt), loves it. She runs and plays and sniffs, and for 30 minutes every day, I feel like I'm actually giving her the attention she deserves.

I love it because of what I see when I'm there. All different kinds, shapes, and sizes of dogs playing together. They don't worry or judge or take things too seriously.

Mom Unedited: Lies

I never imagined the level of deception that would be involved in parenting. I knew my husband and I would fully support Santa, the Easter bunny, and the tooth fairy.

What I didn't expect were the small dishonesties that help us get through the day.
