“To me, Safe Kids is about giving every child the opportunity to grow up and make a difference, whether big or small, whether by touching the lives of millions or a few. There’s nothing better than working for such a great cause, and for such a wonderful organization of people and purpose.”

Alana comes to Safe Kids after extensive experience in the public and private sectors. She began her career on Capitol Hill, and worked as Director of Communications for Congresswoman Doris Matsui (D-CA). Most recently, she worked as a marketing consultant for a private start-up. This experience combined with a genuine passion for our mission and creativity in her ideas makes Alana a perfect fit for her position as Development Associate at Safe Kids. She is involved in almost every aspect of the department and was instrumental in creating and executing our first Safe Kids Day in 2013, a national day to unite the country around keeping our kids active, healthy and safe.

In elementary school, there were few things I dreaded more than running.

Let me put it this way: One year, our French class of four kids (everyone else chose to take Spanish) was required by our teacher to get up in front of the entire school and sing “Aux Champs Elysees.” That song haunts me to this day, and I still would take that over the mile run in school.
