Ms. O'Reilly

She is the BEST crossing guard ever in the nation! No accidents---knock on wood! She cares about ALL the students---including her crossing guards, as well as those who cross at the school corners. Ms. O'Reilly also assigns students to guard on BUSSES! She receives a WHOPPING $60/year for ALL of her planning.

Interested students in grade 5 have to apply for this position, an application which she designed. Parents must grant permission. Ms. O'Reilly and Principal Suppa look over each interested student's history to be sure that these students have NO past behavior problems. Students are then chosen by Ms. O'Reilly: 12 students/quarter. Ms. O'Reilly sits down with the students, and they read and discuss the rules, expectations and application.

Ms. O'Reilly has been our school's supervisor of crossing guards for 3 years, and she plans to continue as long as necessary for the safety of our children.Submitted by Jane Ross, McKinley School
