Report: Safe Roads | Safe Kids: Global Road Safety for Children (December 2014)

Every parent worries when a child develops a fever. But what is on the mind of a parent when a child is riding in a car or walking to school? We know that more than 500 children die in road traffic crashes every day around the world. Are parents concerned?

To shed light on parents’ perceptions of road safety and their behaviors, Safe Kids Worldwide surveyed 6,000 parents in six countries: Brazil, China, India, Qatar, South Africa and the United States. We learned that more than half of parents in five of the six countries say they are concerned about their child’s safety when walking to school, and more than 90 percent of parents surveyed in five countries agree that more needs to be done to improve road safety for children in their community.
