March 12, 2019 CPSC; HP expands recall of its lithium-ion batteries for HP commercial notebook computers and mobile workstations because the batteries can overheat, posing fire and burn hazards. Units: 78,500 (an additional 50,000 were recalled in January 2018). (This recall expansion was announced independently by the manufacturer during the government shutdown).
March 12, 2019 Manufacturer; Igloo Products voluntarily recalls its Marine Elite model ice coolers following reports that a 5-year-old child climbed into one and closed the lid. According to the manufacturer, “It is possible that the stainless-steel latch could inadvertently close where a person could potentially become locked inside.” This was a voluntary recall announced by the company.
March 8, 2019 CPSC; TJX Companies Inc. recalls its Aroma Home USB Heated Hottie heating pads sold exclusively at TJ Maxx and Marshalls stores because the heating pads can overheat during use, posing fire and burn hazards. Units: 5,600 (an additional 3,600 were sold in Canada).
February 28, 2019 CPSC; Biotouch recalls its EZY Gel Topical Anesthetic Gel because it fails to meet child-resistant packaging requirements of the Poison Prevention Packaging Act. The product contains lidocaine, posing a poisoning hazard to children. Units: 8500.
