TRENDS IN POISONINGS
DATA FROM AMERICA’S POISON CENTERS NATIONAL POISON DATA SYSTEM

Safe Kids and America’s Poison Centers are teaming up to raise awareness and protect kids from preventable poisonings. By working together to share the latest poison data and research-informed educational resources, we can ensure that families receive the information they need to keep their children safe.
One of the major initiatives of our new partnership is leveraging data from America’s Poison Centers National Poison Data System® (NPDS) to create an easy-to-use online dashboard to share the latest data and poisoning trends to help keep families and communities informed. We have provided the snapshot below from the most recent NPDS Annual Report. You can adjust the snapshot so you can view data for specific age ranges or data in your state. This page will regularly be updated with new data and education resources in the coming weeks and months.
If you have questions or suspect a poisoning, call the Poison Help line at 1-800-222-1222 to reach your local poison control center. Visit PoisonHelp.org for online resources and support.
ABOUT AMERICA’S POISON CENTERS
America’s Poison Centers represent more than 50 poison centers across the country. Through our national Poison Help line (1-800-222-1222) and website, PoisonHelp.org, we provide all Americans with expert advice from nationally accredited medical specialists about poison ingestions and exposures of all kinds — including medications, insects, or chemicals — 24/7/365 at no cost.
We also maintain the National Poison Data System (NPDS), our nation’s only near real-time poisoning data surveillance system, which integrates the latest information from Poison Centers nationwide. Together, America’s Poison Centers ensure a national quality standard for the detection, prevention, and treatment of poison-related health emergencies.
