Gary on the Street: Heatstroke in Cars

Did you know that even on a mild 70-degree day, the temperature inside of a car can rise 19 degrees in just 10 minutes? And it continues to rise from there, creating a dangerous environment for children who are unattended in the car. With the support of the General Motors Foundation, Safe Kids’ Gary Karton hit the streets of Washington, D.C., to get people talking about this important issue, which has been making headlines recently. With a giant display thermometer that measures the temperature inside and outside of a vehicle, we asked passersby “what temperature do you think it is inside the car?” See how their guesses compared to the real answer.
