Ms. Agueda greets our families with a smile every morning, rain or shine. My children look forward to arriving at school and hearing her greeting, "Buenas Dias Mi Amore!" Not only is she supporting their learning through practice of speaking Spanish, but she is also starting their day on a very positive note!
Officer Griffith greets you with a smile and a wave every morning. The works hard to Lee the students safe. This is a very busy school, but Officer Griffith makes the drop off a breeze. He definitely helps start my morning with a happy note.
Mr. Roberts is retired and volunteers at the diciest intersection used by high school students, middle school students, and elementary students. Don does this as a public service to the community, he's not affiliated with the school district, he's everyone's hero on Kodiak.
Terrible weather, poor visibility on dark winter mornings, snow, ice, sleet, wind. Mr. Roberts has been standing on that corner every school day for 17 years other than when he was ill or recovering from knee surgery. He is a community hero.
Many years ago, Mr.Rost went before the North Dakota legislature to testify on a bill that would make it legal for kids to serve as crossing guards in our state if a school district was interested in using them. He has been a BIG advocate for crossing guards for years.
Ms. Terri as the children call her is there early, stays late and pays no mind to the weather, the children are not the only ones who love her. Teachers toot and wave, parents have made signs recognizing her birthday, brought her treats for holidays and last day of school, even the pets look forward to and are always excited to see Ms. Terri , in her pocket is always a biscuit / treat (she's never without). She knows the children and parents by name and all their birthdays.
She is there every single day, rain or shine, or even when she is under the weather. She greets each child as if they were her own, and makes sure they are doing ok when they go home. The road she crosses the kids is a 4-lane street, with much of the traffic that goes through there in the morning not related to the school, so do not always watch out for the kids.
Ms.Szych, the crossing guard at Newport City Elementary School, lives by the quote, "Let a smile be your umbrella on a rainy day." For more than five years, Ms. Szych has assisted Pre-K through 6th grade students as they cross the busy street in front of our school. She is out there in all kinds of weather we have here. Vermont whether is rain, snow, heat or frigid temperatures. She is there with a huge smile on her face.
Mrs. Flynn has been a crossing guard at Irving School in Derby for the past year. She ALWAYS has a smile on her face and always puts the students first. She is always early to her post and always stays a few minutes extra, just to make sure everyone is safe. Mrs. Flynn doesn’t just stop the traffic while at her post-she regularly reminds the students about safe crossing procedures. She wears her brightly colored vest and carries her stop sign with pride, knowing that she is helping the students of the Derby community get safely to and from school each day.
Mrs. Anderson has been safely (and cheerfully) ensuring our Pasco students are crossing the roads safely for over 20 years. From 5 year olds to 18 year olds - she crosses them all with a smile, a kind word, and an encouragement to have a great day.
The kids love "Miss Mary" and know that she keeps an eye on them from their first day of kindergarten all the way to graduation. Parents and community members all know they can count on this exceptional member of the Pasco family to watch out for their most precious gifts with a smile and a kind word.
Thank you for submission for America’s Favorite Crossing Guard.
