Safe Kids is committed to keeping you informed about recalls of products that can put kids at risk. This recall report includes information about collapsing strollers that pose fall hazards, tricycles containing lead paint and multiple inclined sleepers recalled to prevent infant suffocation hazards. August 27, 2020 FDA: COVID-19 Warning from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration: Consumers should be aware that alcohol-based hand sanitizers are being packaged in containers that may appear as commonly consumed food or drinks. These products may put consumers—and especially children—at risk of serious injury or death if ingested. The FDA warns about some hand sanitizers that are in containers and packages that look similar to beer cans, children’s food pouches, water bottles, vodka bottles, etc. What is even more alarming is that some hand sanitizers are sold with scents like chocolate and raspberry that can be attractive to children. The FDA urges consumers against using the hand sanitizer products found on this list (updated regularly). August 27, 2020 CPSC: CPSC and Morpher warn consumers to stop using and dispose of Morpher flat-folding bicycle helmets. The helmets do not comply with federal safety standards for bike helmets, posing a risk of head injury. August 27, 2020 CPSC: Amazon recalled the Calmer Solutions Wintergreen Essential Oil and Mystic Moments Birch Sweet Essential Oil due to the failure to meet child resistant packaging requirements as required by the Poison Prevention Packaging Act (PPPA). August 26, 2020 CPSC: Communicorp recalled its Plush Aflac Promotional Doctor Duck because the buttons on the toy's lab coat contain levels of lead exceeding the federal lead content standard, posing a risk of adverse health effects to children. August 6, 2020 CPSC: REVIVE Essential Oil recalled its Wintergreen and Birch Essential Oils and Sore No More, Ache Away and Breeze Essential Oil Blends. These products contain methyl salicylate and such products must be sold in child resistant packaging as required by the Poison Prevention Packaging Act.
