My 6-year-old son, Winston, has become a real estate tycoon.
I only realized the extent of Winston's strategic understanding of things like mortgages, cash flow and negotiation when he started playing a game of Monopoly over the Thanksgiving holiday with his Aunt Sarah.
I still consider myself a Monopoly novice but thankfully my husband, David, is more experienced, and apparently, he’s taught Winston well.
“My dad always buys the properties near the start – the cheap ones," Winston announced when Aunt Sarah even considered wasting her money on Pacific Avenue.
What a start to The New Celebrity Apprentice! Our hero and ambassador, Boy George, kicked off the season as the first winning project manager, earning $50,000 for Safe Kids Worldwide.
Did you catch The New Celebrity Apprentice last night? The second episode was filled with plenty of passion and tenacity, as celebrities from both teams fought hard for their charities. We were so excited that Boy George, our hero and ambassador, advanced through two hotly contested tasks.
There were tough challenges this week on The New Celebrity Apprentice, but the teams—especially our Ambassador Boy George—rose to the challenges on behalf of their charities. As Arnold Schwarzenegger’s nephew Patrick Knapp said in the board room, “Big applause. Fantastic. Great job,” to our hero Boy George, who “totally over-achieved” in last night’s episode.
Well, it’s more than halfway through the competition and as Governor Schwarzenegger told the contestants in last night’s episode of The New Celebrity Apprentice, “It’s time to wake up and get tough.” Governor Schwarzenegger stressed that only strong competitors remain and that includes our Ambassador Boy George.
National TV Safety Day is February 4
The Super Bowl is one of the most watched events on TV every year, and it’s the perfect time to remind everyone about TV safety. TV safety, which often isn’t a top priority for families, is an important part of home safety and childproofing. If not properly secured, heavier CRT televisions can tip over and harm small children. In fact, every three weeks in the U.S. a child dies from a TV tipping over.
“Welcome back, Boy George.”
Those were the words that kicked off last night’s episode of The New Celebrity Apprentice. And it didn’t take long for our Ambassador, Boy George, to return to his winning ways.
Will Boy George become The New Celebrity Apprentice? We certainly hope so.
Last year, we were thrilled to learn that Boy George selected Safe Kids Worldwide as his charity in the competition. And he has brought his creative energy, warmth, good humor, passion for our cause and his amazing fundraising skills to the show - and yes, an array of wonderful, colorful hats as well. We are thrilled that he made it to the final competition and are rooting for him to win. Stay tuned for the final show on February 13.
Because of this question, it’s especially inspiring to hear when Washington actually respond to our views on an issue and changes its mind. Our right to “petition the government” and express our opinions is enshrined in the U.S. Constitution and the First Amendment.
Losing a colleague, a friend, is tough. Emilie Crown was such an advocate, such a dedicated Child Passenger Safety instructor, such a passionate person. She ran her local Safe Kids Coalition Buckle Up program in Montgomery County, Md. with events several times a week. Her passing is a huge loss for her family, Safe Kids, the CPS community and all the technicians and parents who were the beneficiaries of her relentless and passionate efforts. She was our “go to” leader for everything from reviewing programs to organizing events to media outreach.
