CHILDREN'S PRODUCT RECALLS - December 2019

Safe Kids is committed to keeping you informed about recalls of products that can put kids at risk. This recall report includes information about several defective bicycle models that pose a fall hazard and five-drawer chests that can tip over on children. December 19, 2019 CPSC; Toysmith recalled its Light-Up Magic Wands because the battery cover can detach and expose the button-cell batteries, posing choking and ingestion hazards to young children. Units: About 58,000 (an additional 9,204 sold in Canada).

December 20, 2019; CPSC; Hallmark recalled its Frosted Balsam glass candles because when they are lit the glass can break, posing fire and laceration Hazards. Units: About 4,500.

December 20, 2019 CPSC; Bosch Thermotechnology recalled its Buderus boilers because their siphon can become blocked, leading to delayed ignition which can damage the boiler’s exhaust system and create a carbon monoxide poisoning hazard. Units: About 170.

December 19, 2019 CPSC; BMC recalled its Teammachine SLR01 DISC bicycles and framesets because their fork steerer tube on the bicycles and framesets can crack or break during use, posing a fall hazard. Units: About 840 (an additional 94 sold in Canada).

December 19, 2019 CPSC; BCI Burke recalled its Merge Playground Climbers because a welded rung opening on the sides of the climber poses an entrapment hazard to children. Units: About 440.

December 18, 2019 CPSC; Hillsdale Furniture recalled its Chadwick and Bailey five-drawer chests because they are unstable and can tip over on children if not anchored to the wall, posing an entrapment the can result in death or injuries to children. Units: About 31,000 (an additional 740 sold in Canada).

December 17, 2019 CPSC; J Crew recalled its Crewcuts boys’ stone washed denim pants because small stones can be present in the pockets and waistband of the pants from the stone washing manufacturing process, posing aspiration or choking hazards. Units: About 900.

December 11, 2019 CPSC; Profile Design recalled its Aeria Ultimate bicycle carbon aerobars because they can crack and break, causing the rider to lose control and crash. Units: About 260.

December 10, 2019 CPSC: Bass Pro recalled its MR. STEAK™ gas grills because the gas regulator hose with the attached fuel gauge can melt if it comes in contact with the bottom of the grill, posing a fire and burn hazard. Units: About 3,300 (an additional 400 sold in Canada).

December 6, 2019 CPSC; WilliamsRDM recalled its Cooktop Fire Suppressors because the suppressors can fail to activate and fail to suppress a fire, causing a fire and burn risk. Units: About 9,300 pairs.

December 6, 2019 CPSC; Surly Bikes recalled its bicycle racks because they can loosen and interfere with the front wheel, posing crash and injury hazards. Units: About 5,139.

December 6, 2019 CPSC; Trek recalled its Super Commuter+ 8S electric bicycles because the front fender can fall onto the front wheel suddenly, posing a fall hazard. Units: About 2,840.
