Johnson & Johnson
Johnson & Johnson is the founding sponsor of Safe Kids Worldwide.
Since 1988, Johnson & Johnson has worked with Safe Kids to teach families about child injury prevention. This unwavering support from Johnson & Johnson has enabled Safe Kids to develop programs, conduct local clinics, do research, advocate for policy, place media and enhance an online presence for injury prevention messaging, including water safety, fire safety, bike safety, medicine safety, home safety and youth sports safety.
At Johnson & Johnson, we want all children to grow up healthy and well. As the founding sponsor of Safe Kids in 1988, we have worked collaboratively on multiple risk areas that pose the greatest threat to children around the world. Our current work together is focused on youth sports injury prevention, with the goal of keeping kids active, healthy and safe.
– Sarah L. Colamarino, Vice President, Corporate Equity, Johnson & Johnson
In addition to extensive work in the United States, Johnson & Johnson supports Safe Kids programs in China, Vietnam and Brazil. Its commitment through the years has been a major reason for a 60 percent decrease in the unintentional injury rate among children 19 and younger.
Johnson & Johnson and its affiliate DePuy Synthes are currently working with Safe Kids on a youth sports safety program, which focuses on a rising risk to our children and helps parents, coaches and kids enjoy the thrill of sports while helping to recognize and prevent serious injury. These efforts support national messaging, advocacy, research, social media outreach, and sports safety clinics for coaches, parents and kids.
“Johnson & Johnson’s steadfast support of Safe Kids Worldwide has helped lead to a significant reduction in injuries, improving the health and well-being of families both in the U.S. and in countries around the world. Without Johnson & Johnson's longstanding commitment, Safe Kids couldn't have become the go-to resource for children's safety that it is today."
- Dana Points, Content Director, Meredith Parents Network; Chairman of the Board, Safe Kids Worldwide.
As the makers of brands such as Children’s TYLENOL® and Children’s MOTRIN®, McNeil Consumer Healthcare, a part of the Johnson & Johnson Family of Consumer Companies, shares the commitment of Safe Kids in educating parents and caregivers on the importance of safe medication storage and dosing. Each year, more than 67,000 children ages 5 and under are treated in emergency rooms due to accidental medicine exposure or overdose. McNeil Consumer Healthcare and Safe Kids are working together to reduce these preventable exposures to medicine.
