Safe Kids and Our Coalitions Had A Great Global Road Safety Week!

Girls in Cameroon celebrating Global Road Safety Week

What an amazing week!

To raise awareness for the 500 children who die every day on the world’s roads – that’s one every three minutes – we participated in the United Nations Global Road Safety Week’s #slowdown campaign placing a special focus on how speed impacts the safety of children.

Building on Global Road Safety Week, Safe Kids coalitions and partners also hosted child passenger safety, pedestrian safety, and wheeled sports safety events across the U.S. and in Austria, Uruguay, Spain, Argentina, Israel, Cambodia, New Zealand, Nepal, Jordan, Ecuador, Cameroon, Malaysia, Kenya, South Africa, Vietnam, China, Thailand, and India.

We hosted families with Chevrolet at events in Detroit and Dallas. We held a ribbon-cutting ceremony with FedEx at a now-safer school zone in Atlanta. And we celebrated Bike to School Day throughout the nation. On top of all that, we launched a major research-based campaign in both national and local news to keep kids safe on bikes, skates, skateboards and scooters with our friends at Nationwide.

Check out some fun highlights from the week. And keep your child safe with these tips.
