Hollywood Celebrates Safe Kids Day
On Saturday, April 5 more than 450 families and kids of all ages swept through the Lot in West Hollywood for the first ever Safe Kids Day in Los Angeles to help celebrate kids, prevent injuries and save lives.
The fun-filled event featured tons of celebrity guests, including Drew Barrymore and Ciara, who delighted kids by reading a few children’s books as part of story time; Vanna White, who invited kids to spin the wheel at a bike safety carnival booth; and Tina Charles and Matthew Hatchette, who played basketball with kids and offered tips at the sports safety center.
Other celebrity guests helped show their support to protect kids from preventable injuries, the number one killer of kids in the U.S., including Malin Akerman, Mark-Paul Gosselaar, Breckin Meyer, Giuliana and Bill Rancic, Kendra Wilkinson and Hank Baskette, Neal McDonough, Garcelle Beauvais, Tom Arnold, Cocoa Brown, Ali Landry, Alysia Montano, Leonor Varela, Eden Sassoon and more. Many celebrity guests brought their entire families to enjoy the day-long festivities and learn little things they can do to help keep kids safe.
Highlights from Safe Kids Day also appeared in several media outlets, including the Daily Mail, E-Online, OK! Magazine, Associated Press and more, with stories focusing on raising awareness about child injury prevention.
Thanks to our supporters, including presenting sponsor Children’s Tylenol, with support from the General Motors Foundation, FedEx and Chevrolet, the 2014 Safe Kids Day campaign has raised more than $870,000 to help keep kids safe from preventable injuries. Our campaign continues and we need your help to reach our $1M goal. Please visit www.safekids.org/skd to learn how you can support our mission to keep all kids safe!
